The date of death is within the range where Second World War servicemen were entitled to a Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone and to be included in the CWGC database.

Overlooked? He is in the CWGC database and his Circumstances of Casualty form on Ancestry clearly states that he died of causes attributable to his war service. His obit in the Ottawa Citizen provides some additional and interesting detail.
